tells the interesting history of the Dominican Republic, Juan Pablo Duarte y Diez, Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and Ramón Matías Mella, known as the Founding Fathers, raised their forces together to brave men to claim separating freedom of the Haitian government (Gimbernard, 1978).

Under the leadership of Juan Pablo Duarte is created the Secret Society The Trinity (July 16, 1838), a company that operated in secret, gathering a group of young men and wise men, whose main objective was to achieve independence. Upon admission, each new member brought three more people, thus deriving your name, Trinity.

As in all fight, the wisdom of the most experienced guided the young entrants, who swore loyalty and commitment, under the motto "Dios, Patria y Libertad," words which today remain faithfully in the coat of arms in the Dominican flag .

in 1844 to 27 February at the Gate of Mercy, in the City of Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic proclaimed its independence with the historic blunderbuss shot by Matias Ramon Mella as a symbol of freedom.

Following that important event, the February 28, 1844, the Dominican Republic obtained the property and guarantees of a peaceful surrender, after negotiations with the Haitian authorities (Moya Pons 1981).
